Some important information and frequently asked questions about laser removal...
How does Laser Removal Work..
When you have a Tattoo, The particles of Ink are too large for the body to destroy, So instead encapsulates the particles of ink within a network of Collagen Fibres as the skin heals. And there the tattoo remains.
How the YAG Laser works to remove it..
The laser emits a pulse of light that is preferentially absorbed into certain colours of ink. The light enters the skin at Speed that is too fast to heat the Tissues (Billionths of a Second). Instead it produces a "Shock Wave" effect and breaks up the ink particles into smaller pieces. The body then recognises these particles as something that shouldn't be there and attacks it. The particles are then removed naturally via the body's own Elimination system. The Radiation emitted by the Laser is Non-Ionizing and carries NO Risk Of Cancer or Abnormal Cell Growth.
Can you treat all Colours..
No. The lights measured in Nanometers and there are two Wavelengths of light that are emitted from this Laser. One is Invisible infrared light (1064 nm) and the other is Green light (532nm). The infrared wavelengths are preferably absorbed into the Black/Blue inks, Whereas the Green light is absorbed by red ink. It is possible to treat some other colours although White, Yellow and some bright colours are more difficult. This is not usually a problem however, As the light colours are covered up more easily. If you wish to Cover-Up an existing tattoo, Then the dark colours will be faded or removed, Allowing a greater choice of Size, Type and Colour of the Cover -up design.
Why is it Difficult treat colours other than Red and Black..
The light will only see the colours it is attracted to, As different wavelengths absurd into different things. It is not possible produce a laser that can see all colours, As some wavelengths are too shallow when absorbed to affect the Tattoo ink.Others can absorb into other matter and damage the skin in the process.
How much will the Laser cost..
The initial Patch Test Session is £25. This is your first treatment, where we will view your Tattoo, Carry out a Skin Type Assessment to make sure your skin is suited to Laser Removal.
Then most Laser Removal sessions cost between £30--£45 Per Session .
How many Treatments will it take to Remove my Tattoo..
Unfortunately, Due to the nature of this procedure it is impossible to predict exactly how many sessions are needed for complete results. As everyone's Immune system is different and everyone's Skin Type is different, So are the sessions needed for different Clients. Also it depends on the way the initial Tattoo was produced in the first place, And what type of ink was used. It could take as little as 3, Or even more than 10 sessions to get the required result needed.
How far apart are the Sessions..
Your Tattoo needs time to break down the ink particles after each Laser Treatment. This is a slow process, Therefore you will typically schedule each appointment between 4--6 weeks apart for maximum benefit of the session.
What will my Skin look like after each Treatment..
Straight after treatment the area will feel Hot and the skin will form Small white"Blisters". (These are Vapour Spots created by the intense heat under the skin), which might be slightly raised. This is due to the Release of Microscopic Steam particle bubbles in your skin. This change usually lasts no more than a few minutes before it disappears, And is perfectly normal and a good sign that the treatment is working. Your skin will also feel like mild Sunburn. This typically goes away after a couple of hours and as the white spots fade , your Tattoo will start to show through again. You could also experience a little Blood Spotting ( This is also quite common and stops pretty quickly after the session). At times with certain inks, There could be some mild Bruising or Blistering which usually heals with in a week.As with any treatment of this type, Most people have different types of skin therefore the healing process can be very different between two people. After each session you will be given detailed instructions on how to care for the area for maximum effect and comfort.
Will the Laser Treatment Hurt..
Once again this depends on where the tattoo is on your body.Patients have reported that Laser Tattoo Removal feels like a Rubber Band snapping quickly on the skin. A topical Numbing cream can be used if needed, But most people don't feel the need to use this.
Will Tattoo Removal leave a Scar..
The type of Laser used, Leaves virtually no Scars. However in rare cases, this with scarring disorders such as Keloids have an increased risk of forming a scar.
